Lawrenceville Community Mourns Four Lives Lost in Brook Ivy Court Shooting

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Lawrenceville community is mourning a heartbreaking tragedy after four adults were killed in an overnight shooting that authorities believe was domestic-related, leaving several children traumatized but physically unharmed.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of shots fired inside a residence in the 1000 block of Brook Ivy Court. When officers arrived, they found four adults deceased inside the home, all suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Meemu Dogra, 43, of Atlanta; Gourav Cumar, 33; Nidhi Chander, 37; and Harish Chander, 38, all of Lawrenceville. Police say the victims were related.

Authorities identified the suspect as Vijay Kumar, 51, of Atlanta, the husband of Meemu Dogra. Investigators say an argument between Dogra and Kumar began earlier at their Atlanta home. The couple then traveled with their 12-year-old child to the Lawrenceville residence, where Gourav Cumar, Nidhi Chander, and Harish Chander lived with two children, ages 7 and 10.

Following the shooting, three children were found hiding in a closet and were unharmed. Police confirmed that the 12-year-old placed the 911 call after the incident. Kumar was located a short distance from the home and taken into custody without incident.

Kumar now faces multiple charges, including four counts of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and several counts of cruelty to children.

As loved ones grieve an unimaginable loss, the investigation remains ongoing. The Lawrenceville community continues to mourn the lives lost and the tragedy that has left families and children forever changed.
