LIBERTY, S.C. — A 17-year-old Liberty resident, Leeland Cole Yates, was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Pickens County.
According to Andrew Wilson, the collision occurred on February 21, 2026, near the intersection of Breazeale Road and Ashley Lane. Yates, who was a restrained passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other occupants were in the vehicle at the time and were treated by Pickens County EMS before being transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The crash is under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. No additional details have been released.
