A quiet Bradenton neighborhood was shaken early Sunday morning after a deadly shooting claimed the life of a 23-year-old man, authorities confirmed.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting with injuries in the 1400 block of 34th Avenue East around 3:45 a.m. When they arrived, they found Rickie Riddle III suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began performing life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel reached the scene. Despite their efforts, Riddle was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Investigators say 46-year-old Chadrick Hunter was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities stated that Riddle and Hunter were acquainted and had been spending time together at the residence with several other individuals prior to the incident.
Detectives continue to investigate what led to the fatal confrontation. Officials have not yet released additional details regarding a possible motive.
The tragic loss has left family members, friends, and the community mourning a young life cut short. As the investigation remains ongoing, authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward to assist in determining the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
