Mother and Son Killed in Clarendon County Crash

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified a mother and her son as the victims of a fatal crash Friday in Clarendon County.

Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around noon on Greeleyville Highway near Bay Shadow Drive. According to Bennett, a 2015 Toyota Sienna traveling north struck a log on an unoccupied Western Star truck with a log trailer that was disabled in the northbound lane. The Toyota then veered off the road to the right and collided with a tree. Both the driver and passenger of the vehicle died at the scene.

Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the adult victim as 38-year-old Heather Strebeck of Manning. The other victim was her 13-year-old son, whose name has not been released due to his status as a minor.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
