Parrish Man Dies After Tractor-Trailer Attempted Illegal U-Turn on I-75

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — A tragic crash on I-75 claimed the life of 28-year-old Cory Bolles of Parrish after a tractor-trailer driver allegedly attempted an illegal U-turn on the interstate.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Bolles was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound near the Hillsborough-Manatee County line when the crash occurred Monday afternoon. Traffic was already moving slowly due to an unrelated vehicle fire near the Sun City Center exit when the driver of a tractor-trailer, 45-year-old Julio Dones Rosa of Citrus Springs, attempted to make a U-turn into the southbound lanes.

The tractor-trailer entered Bolles’ path, and the Corolla collided with it. Bolles was transported to the hospital with serious injuries but later died from the crash, FHP confirmed. Rosa was not injured and was taken into custody, facing a charge of reckless driving with serious injury, according to troopers.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Rosa will face an upgraded charge following Bolles’ death. The crash remains under investigation as troopers continue to review the circumstances leading to this fatal accident.

This tragedy has left the Parrish community grieving the loss of Cory Bolles, whose life was cut far too short.
