HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating the death of a utility worker who was found deceased while working to restore service lines following recent ice storm damage in Hardin County.
According to Hardin County Sheriff Johnny Alexander, 42-year-old James Garbo, an employee of Spectrum, was working at a residence on Mulberry Lane in Adamsville on Saturday, February 7. Garbo had been dispatched to the area as part of ongoing efforts to repair and restore utility services impacted by severe winter weather.
Sheriff Alexander said the homeowner became concerned after not seeing Garbo for an extended period of time. At approximately 11 a.m., the woman went outside to check on him and discovered Garbo unresponsive beside his work van.
Emergency personnel were notified, and Garbo was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At this time, the cause of death has not been determined. Sheriff Alexander confirmed that Garbo’s body has been sent to the coroner’s office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not indicated any signs of foul play.
Garbo’s death has prompted an outpouring of condolences for a worker who was serving the community during challenging post-storm conditions.
