East Harris County, Texas — Authorities have identified Jayden Ford, 17, as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night near the 200 block of Uvalde Road close to Woodforest, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Ford was visiting other teenagers at an apartment complex when a suspect armed with a pistol approached him during an attempted robbery. The suspect, described as wearing a hoodie and mask, fatally shot Ford during the encounter. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives reported that the suspect fled on foot along with several other individuals immediately after the shooting. A dark-colored vehicle was also observed leaving the area shortly after the incident.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities continue to interview witnesses and review available evidence. No arrests have been announced at this time.
