Authorities in Portsmouth are investigating a deadly three-vehicle crash that claimed two lives Thursday night at the intersection of Elm Avenue and High Street.
According to the Portsmouth Police Department, officers responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered three vehicles involved in the collision. A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling westbound on High Street struck another vehicle. The force of the crash pushed the impacted vehicle into a pickup truck.
The two occupants inside the first vehicle that was hit — identified as 23-year-old Ny Asia Hill and 24-year-old Deandre Lilly — were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that initiated the crash was transported to a local hospital. Authorities have not released details regarding the extent of that individual’s injuries.
Police confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash, and charges are currently pending as the investigation continues.
