Two Killed, One Seriously Injured in Reno County Head-On Crash

WICHITA, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the victims involved in a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Reno County.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m., approximately half a mile north of U.S. Highway 50 on Kansas Highway 14. According to the sheriff’s office, a southbound Chevy Malibu crossed the center line and struck a northbound Jeep Liberty head-on.

The driver of the Jeep, Adam Arevalo, 59, of Hutchinson, was being transported to Wichita by EagleMed when the flight was diverted to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Authorities said Arevalo succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu, Cecil Chandler IV, 27, of Hutchinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the Chevy Malibu was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a Wichita hospital, where they remain in serious condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
