Two Women, Suspect Dead After Eviction Notice Turns Fatal in Macon

A tragic scene unfolded Tuesday morning in Macon after an attempt to serve an eviction notice ended in a deadly shooting that claimed three lives.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, a civil deputy arrived at a residence in the 1100 block of Ridgeview Circle around 10:16 a.m. to serve an eviction notice. Authorities said gunfire erupted from inside the home, with three shots fired as the deputy approached.

A large law enforcement presence quickly responded to the scene. Deputies later made entry into the residence shortly after noon.

Inside the home, investigators discovered two women, identified as 49-year-old Brande Summers and 21-year-old Haliegh Summers, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

A man identified as 51-year-old Ray Summers was also found inside with what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died just before 5 p.m., according to Leon Jones, the Bibb County Coroner.

Officials also confirmed that two animals were found dead inside the residence.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
