VASS, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two individuals who lost their lives in a double homicide on February 14, 2026, in the Woodlake community of Vass.
The victims have been identified as Kateryna Tovmash, 21, of Vass, and Matthew Wade, 28, of Hamilton, Mississippi. Authorities confirmed that Wade was stationed at Fort Bragg. The incident occurred at Tovmash’s residence on Daphne Lane in the Woodlake community.
On February 14 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Moore County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the residence. Upon arrival, deputies located Tovmash and Wade deceased inside the home.
Later that day, Caleb Fosnaugh was taken into custody in Ohio following coordination between Moore County investigators and partnering law enforcement agencies. Investigators have confirmed that Tovmash and Fosnaugh had previously been in a relationship in Ohio.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather information surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
