Woman Killed, Suspect Arrested in Southern Phenix City Shooting

Phenix City, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a local woman on Sunday night, February 15, 2026.

The shooting was first reported around 10:55 p.m. Eastern time in the 100 block of 17th Avenue South. Phenix City police, fire crews, and medics with CARE Ambulance responded to the scene. According to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr., Contina Robinson, 52, was shot and pronounced dead at 11:49 p.m.

Criminal investigations officials immediately responded to the scene and began a probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Arrest Made:

The suspect, identified as Willie James Davis, 51, was arrested and booked into the Russell County Jail at 4:43 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026. Davis is charged with murder and is being held without bond.

Robinson’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery for an autopsy.

This marks the first homicide of the year in Russell County. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Phenix City Police Department.
