WOODVILLE, Miss. — Authorities are investigating the deaths of a husband and wife found at a home on Ford Street Friday morning, Jan. 30, 2026.
According to the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of an incident at the residence and discovered both victims had been involved in an altercation. The victims have been identified as Melinda Andrews and her husband, Lafayette Hunter. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old man, Brandon Andrews, Melinda’s son and Lafayette’s stepson, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He is expected to be charged in connection with the deaths. Deputies reported that a gun was recovered as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators said a child was also present in the home and was unharmed. Child Protective Services was contacted, and the child was later released to family.
Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator OJ Packnett offered condolences to the family, stating, “My heart goes out to the families involved, and I pray that they have the strength to get through this difficult time.”
